LIFE-LONG RESIDENT DIES
J. R. (Ross) Baker Succumbs at Age of 77
End Comes on Farm Adjoining One On Which He Was Born
J. R. (Ross) Baker, 77, life-long resident of northeast of Carthage, died at 12:15 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the family home on route 1. In ill health 18 months, Mr. Baker's condition became critical last Friday. He was a farmer.
He was born September 6, 1880 on a farm adjoining the one on which he died. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Baker. On November 14, 1917 he was married to Elsie Hubbs.
Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Mrs. R. H. Vogt of route 1 and Miss Rosemary Baker of the home; a son, Robert Baker of Kansas City; a sister, Mrs. W. E. 'Linnie' Wilson and two grandchildren, Oran and Edith Baker of Joplin.
Funeral services were held at the Knell Mortuary. Rev. Harvey Gresham officiated.
