Jacob K. Shatzer, one of the best known citizens of the county, died at the home of his grandson, Jacob J. Moore, on Washington Street at Center Alley on Friday afternoon, in the 90 year of his age. Mr. Shatzer was born in Letterkenny Township, but for many years he was with J. P. Wallace in his store in Greenvillege. He carried the mail from Greenvillage to Chambersburg and for years traveled over this and adjacent counties selling medicines. He was a wonderful pedestrian and would go on walks of great length through York, Adams, and Cumberland Counties, walking for days at a time even up to a year and a half ago. He is survived by four children - Mrs. D. J. Simmers, Greencastle, Mrs. Ed Sheets, Chambersburg and David and George, of Hamilton Township. The funeral took place on Monday morning: interment in the Rocky Springs graveyard.

Father: Johann Philippus Shertzer
Mother: Barbara Klar Shertzer
