Bertha L. Knicely, 90 formerly of Norwich, died Sunday (May 30, 2010) at The Beckett House, New Concord. She was born Feb. 2, 1920 in New Concord, daughter of the late James Wilbur and Margaret Jane Glenn Blackstone. Mrs. Knicely was a homemaker and quiltmaker, and a member of the Norwich United Methodist Church. She was a poll worker in New Concord for 10 years, a 60 year member of the Pleasant Grove Grange and a 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Laura Chapter 264 of NOrwich. She was preceded in death by her husband, W. Edward Knickely who died July 10, 2002; sisters, Alice Holmes and Wilma Trammel; and brothers, francis (Frank), Clyde and Wilbur. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara (Charles) Mock, New Concord; a grandson, Charles Duane Mock, New Concord, and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Mock-Miller Funeral Home, 63 W. Main St., New Concord where services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday with the Rev. James Sands, Pastor Wayne Hogue and Pastor Keith Taylor officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, south of New Concord.
