WOODS COUNTY ENTERPRISE & WAYNOKA NEWS (Waynoka, Oklahoma) - Thu - 25 Jul 1946
"Bixler Rites Are Held Wednesday"
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon at the First Baptist Church for Mrs. Adaline Bixler, who died Monday after a long illness. Rev. N. B. Rayburn assisted by Rev. Gerald Hall conducted the services. Burial was under the direction of Floyd Funeral Home. Mrs. Bixler was born January 1, 1869, in Olney, Illinois. In 1897 she came to Oklahoma with her family and homesteaded six miles north of Waynoka. Survivors are four daughters, Mrs. Bertha Browning, Mrs. Marie Coulter, Mrs. Dorothea Hempel, and Mrs. Velma Icke; one son, Roy Bixler; a twin brother, Valentine Wyatt; one sister, Mrs. Etta Holtz; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

"TWINS BORN IN DIFFERENT YEARS!!"
Even though Valentine Ballard Wyatt and Adeline (Wyatt) Bixler were twins, records of their birth dates are not always in agreement. Here are two excerpts from articles printed in The Amarillo Globe, a Texas newspaper, which might help to clear up the confusion. Both articles were found on ancestry.com.

Article 1 -- Excerpt of a 1943 article about the birthdays of Valentine and Adeline, from The Amarillo Globe, October 8, 1943:

"Mr. Wyatt delights in telling the story about his birth. He and his twin sister Adeline were born in different years, Mr. Wyatt a few moments before midnight on December 31 and his sister a few moments after midnight on January 1."

Article 2 -- Excerpt of a 1944 article about Valentine's visit with his sister Adeline at her home in Waynoka, OK, where they celebrated their 75th birthdays. This article appeared in The Amarillo Globe, January 6, 1944:

"Valentine Wyatt has returned from Waynoka, Okla., where he observed his 75th birthday with his twin sister, Mrs. Albert Bixler. It took a couple of days for the celebration. Mr. Wyatt was born a few minutes before midnight on Dec. 31 and Mrs. Bixler shortly after midnight on Jan. 1. So their birth years are different."

Note: Valentine turned 75 on Dec. 31, 1943, and Adeline turned 75 on Jan. 1, 1944.
