Salem ----- Services for Elmer Onies Shoemate of Salem will be at 10 am Saturday at Cox-Estes Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. David Gibson officiating. Mr. Shoemate died Tuesday (Jan. 27, 1998) at his home. He was 71.
Visitation will be from 6 - 8 pm Cox-Estes Chapel . Burial will be at Rose Lawn Cemetery at Calico Rock.
Mr. Shoemate was born March 19, 1926 at Elizabeth, a son of the late William Rufus and Margaret Eula Owens Shoemate. He and the former Ella Dean Garner was married Oct. 19, 1946, at Salem. He was a plumber and electrician. Mr. Shoemate was a member of the Church of Christ and attended services at Salem.
He is survived by his wife, Ella Dean Shoemate, of the home; two brothers, Dale Shoemate of Salem and Harold Shoemate of Campbell, Mo.; two brothers-in-law, Wandel Garner and wife, Lonita, of Roswell, N. M. and Jimmy Garner and wife, Carolyn, of Carlsbad, N. M.; three aunts, Ellen Painter of Kansas City, Mo., Ethel Young of Lathrop, Mo., and Berneice Neal of Viola; five nephews; two nieces; three great nieces; three great nephews; one great great niece and nephew; and special friends in the families of Houston Clements, Greta Clements, Eddie Clements, and Diane Clements.
He was preceded in death by his son, Billy; a brother, Duane; his parents; and his parents-in-law.
