Annie Ruth Yates Spence,94, of Kissimmee was born June 22, 1913 in Kissimmee. Ruth was the daughter of John Quincy Adam and Lenora Lamb Yates and member of a Pioneer Osceola County family. She was a Citrus Grower and homemaker. Having lived most of her life in Osceola County, Ruth was founding director of the Spence-Lanier Pioneer Enrichment Center sponsored by Osceola County Historical Society. She was a member of Shingle Creek United Methodist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher for many years. Always active in her community until failing health, Ruth will also be remembered as having volunteered with the Shingle Creek 4-H Club and the Osceola County Extension Service working with many young people. Preceded in death by her husband, Carl; Ruth is survived by a daughter, Patricia Ann; son, William Carl "Bill"; sisters, Maxine Yates Tanner and Dorothy Yates Smith; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
