[An excerpt from the BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH about her husband...]

Lewis received his early education in Wilkesbarre, Pennsylvania. At the age of twenty-eight {circa ~1827} he {Lewis [AKA Louis] Horton} married Miss Priscilla L., daughter of Frederick Cressman. The fruits of that union was a family of eleven children, of whom only five are now living. During the time he resided in Pennsylvania, he was engaged in hotel-keeping, farming, and canal contracting.

TIME-LINE (logical analysis):
Priscilla was probably born about 1802-1807. Hence, if she had her first child within a year after her marriage in about 1827, i.e. about 1828-29, and thereafter, another about ever 1-1/2 to 2 years (for a total of 11 children, without any twins)... She would have lived until (not less than) 1844-to-1850 at least. Some of her children were born (therefore), in Schuyler Co. IL. (since it is mentioned that a move was made to that locality in 1840). Later-on, her husband left home to travel West (and felt safe and free to do so) leaving for California in 1852, and remaining absent through 1856-57 - he probably left her behind with ALL of the children (some of whom, were still very young). With eleven children at home, one must presume that the older children took care of the house and farm with their mother. By 1852 the eldest may have been 23. It is unclear as to how many of the children made it to adulthood ...since it is also stated that only 5 were living by the time of the writing of the above "BIO" (i.e in 1872-1878).
