Proofs of why Caroline E. Buffum Jones is likely the daugher of Hiram B Buffum and Sarah Pierce
On Ancesty it appears we all followed each others lead and added her as Daniels' daughter, although there isn't one source listed on any of the trees proving this.
Daniel Buffum now has his will available on Ancestry and in it, he makes no mention of a daughter named Caroline. His only daughters were Cornelia Buffum Call who married John Call and had son George R Call and Diana Buffum. In Daniel's will, he gives a share to George R Call, son of Cornelia but she must have passed away before 1860. In 1860 George R Call was living with Daniel and was 16. He died at 19 in the Civil War in 1864 just months after Daniel filed his will. Daniel died in 1864. So Caroline isn't Daniel's daughter.
The only one that fits is Caroline being a daughter of Hiram Buffum.
Here are the arguments for this conclusion
1. She is not found in Daniel Buffum's Will even though they both lived in Lewistown Ill the year he passed.
2.Daniel Buffum's 1835 Census lists his children's gender and age and only leaves room for his daughter's Cornelia and Diana.
3. Hiram's first daughter Lydia Ann named her daughter 'Caroline E' (assuming she and Caroline Buffum are sisters).
4. Caroline Buffum Jones named her daughter Sarah Ann (assuming the combined names being named for Hiram's wife Sarah AND the middle name 'Ann' from Lydia Ann Buffum Bolender.
5. Daniel's grandson George Call was living with him in 1860 showing Cornelia as daughter, not Caroline.
6. Caroline seems to be a fit in Hiram's family. Not just the names but also appearing that Lydia and Caroline (assumed sisters) were very close: living in the same town, naming their children after one another, looking out for each other. Perhaps Hiram felt comfortable moving on with his two older daughters married and in close vicinity of each other.

Inscription
To the right of Oliver is a base of a matching monument, and I assume is all that is left of the stone for wife Caroline. It is broken in pieces and not legible at all, but according to WPA from 1930, she is buried in McCormick.
