Raymond served as a Corporal & Gunner on A-20G #42-54155, Headquarters Squadron, 8th Air Service Group, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in the Fillmore County, Minnesota prior to the war.

A-20G #42-54155 took off, with a crew of 3, on a training mission from Nadzab Airfield, Morobe Province, Papua New Guinea to Lae, Morobe Province, Papua New Guinea.

After takeoff they were not seen nor heard from again. It was later found out that they crashed into a steep slope in the Saruwaged Range, a few miles north of Nadzab Airfield. All three crew members were lost.

Raymond was "Killed In Action" in the "Line Of Duty" on this mission during the war.

Service # 17144398

Also on this same training mission was A-20G #42-86717 which also crashed during their mission. ( see below )
