Alfred Charles was a Sergeant in the United States Army Air Force, assigned as Engineer to the 8th Squadron, 3rd Attack Group "The Grim Reapers".

Alfred was KIA on the weather reconnaissance mission they were intercepted by some Nakajima Ki-43, in the fight Top Turret Gunner Alfred C. Davis got killed, one engine got damaged and a fire occurred, the plane crashed in the sea and it sank immediately on 9 July 1943, he is honored with an Air Medal, Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, Army Presidential Unit Citation, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, WW II Victory Medal.
