He was the son of Horace McKee Huffman, Sr and Mary Reynolds of Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio. His siblings were Jeannette, Horace McKee Jr, Marion, and Robert Huffman.
He enlisted in the service 19 April 1941 at Hartford, Connecticut. At the time, he had completed four years of college, was single, was 72 inches tall and weighed 159 lbs.
He had worked as a salesperson in his civilian life.
B-24D #42-40069 ‘The Pregnant Swan' and its crew were lost on the Hump on 20 March 1943 while enroute from Pandaveswar, India to Kunming, China. It was assigned to the 14th Air Force, 308th Bombardment Group, 425th Squadron and was on its original flight to Kunming to begin work in China.
The plane had been cleared from Chabua, India to Kunming, but the location when it
encountered problems and the nature of the loss are unknown. There were no survivors. The crew members were~
