HAROLD H. WEBERT WAR CASUALTY Pvt.
Harold H. Webert, son of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Webert of Blairstown, has been killed in action in the South Pacific area, December 28, his parents were informed Thursday. Pvt. Webert was born November 8, 1915, near Marengo, he was inducted into the army December 31, 1941; he had been in New Guinea for several months. Before entering the service he worked at the carpenter trade and on farms new Conroy and Williamsburg. He was a young man of excellent character, was a member of St. Paul's Lutherna church of Williamsburg. He is survived by his parents, two brothers, Arnold of Luzerne, and Otto, Jr., of the home, a sister, Gertrude of Van Horne, and his fiancée, Miss Gladys Collingwood of Williamsburg (12846522); besides a number of other near relatives and a host of friends who were grieved to hear of his tragic death. To the bereaved family, Williamsburg extends sincerest sympathy.

Harold was born near Marengo, IA and was the son of M&M Otto Webert. Harold worked as a carpenter and for hire on farms. He was engaged to Gladys Collingwood #12846522 of Williamsburg IA. Harold entered service on 31 Dec. 1941. His S.N. was 37111165. He was KIA 28 Dec 1942.(ABMC lists 27 Dec. as DOD). Parents were notified on 14 Jan 1943. He was awarded a purple heart. Harold was interred at Manilla American Cemetery.
