B-24J #44-41174 took off from Clark Field, Philippines on a bombing mission over the Alicante Airdrome, Negros Islands. After a successful bombing mission they were attacked by Japanese Zeros. One of the zeros exploded near B-24J #44-41174 which caused it's entire nose section to be blown off and they crash into the sea during the war. 4 Parachutes were seen by other B-24's.
Aldo was declared "Missing In Action" in this crash.
He was awarded an Air Medal and the Purple Heart.
He also has a "Cenotaph" in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia. The year on that record is in "error".
