Lucy was the daughter of George Washington Stewart and Virginia Allie Collins.

She married (1) Woody Solomon Jones in Texas on Dec. 8, 1895 (their marriage license was obtained in Trinity Co., but they may have married in Houston Co. where her parents lived and where her father was a Methodist minister).

Woody and Lucy lived in Trinity Co. and had four children:
1) Clyde Virginia Jones (b. Feb. 1, 1897, d. Sept. 1, 1960)
2) Vera G. Jones (b. Jan. 22, 1899, d. Dec. 7, 1973)
3) Jewel A. Jones (b. Aug. 23, 1901, d. Oct. 20, 1903)
4) Lamont Stewart Jones (b. Feb. 23, 1903, d. May 25, 1905).
Jewel and Lamont died in childhood and their burial locations are unknown. No public record of them has been found but they are recorded in Lucy and Woody's family bible.

Woody died of pneumonia Jan. 31, 1904 at age 31.

Lucy married (2) Robert Charping "Bud" McPhail Sept. 9, 1908. Their marriage license was also obtained in Trinity Co.

Lucy and Bud had been married only six months when she died at the age of 28.

The following notice appeared in the Crockett Courier, Vol. XX No. 10, on Thursday, April 1, 1909 (available on digital media at the Crockett, Texas public library):

"Died Near Lovelady

"On Saturday evening, at 2 o'clock, at the home of Mrs. J. I. Ross, six miles west of Lovelady, occurred the sudden and unexpected death of Mrs. Lucy McPhail, wife of C. R. McPhail of Lovelady. Deceased had been ailing for only a short while, having become sick on March 20th. Mrs. McPhail was twenty-eight years old and an active member of the Methodist church. Her loss will be severely felt throughout the church circle in this community. In the passing of Mrs. McPhail, the Grim Reaper has taken from a community a true christian worker, a fond mother and a true and loving wife. Besides a host of friends, she leaves a husband, two children, father, four sisters and two brothers to mourn her loss. The sympathy of the entire community is extended to them in their sad hour of bereavement.

"A Friend."
