Maria Amelia (Lichtenthaler) Schan was the daughter of Chris Licthenthaler, of Germany. The U.S. 1910 Census for Jeffersonville, Clark County, Indiana, states that Amelia came to the U.S. in 1841. She married Michael Schan in Cincinnati, Hamilton County, Ohio, on 9 June, 1860, by K. Hall.The children we are aware of are: John Louis Schan, Amelia Schan, Rose Wilhelmina "Rose" Schan, Caroline "Carrie" Schan, Anna M. Schan, Elizabeth Marie Schan, and Edward Ludwig Schan. On the 1900 Clark County, Indiana Census it states that she had had 8 children and at that time (7 June, 1900) there were only 5 left living.
