William married Sylvia Celeste Silva on 6-12-1940 in Oakland CA. During WWII on June 6, 1944, served as a Paratrooper during the Normandy Invasion in the 502nd Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division successfully parachuted in joining other paratroopers, he engaged the enemy and successfully captured a German garrison. He subsequently was injured by machine-gun fire and succumbed to his injuries on June 13, 1944. William was awarded the Purple Heart on August 4, 1944.
He was one of twelve children of Charles and Mable Fish Taylor.
