Walter's parents were Luke C. Harden and Loretta Elizabeth Hughes Harden.His grandparents were John G. Harden and Ellen Rogers Harden and John and Lena Fitzgerald Stroud.
The elder Hardens were from Itawamba CO., MS and moved to Texas and then to Arizona where they lived until they died. They are burried in the Greenwood Memorial Cemetery in Phoenix.Walter joined the service during WWII and was stationed in Abilene, TX. Walter and his wife Lura Madge Stroud were married in Abilene, Taylor CO., TX on 04-12-1942. They had at least one child Barbara Frances Harden who was stillborn on 05-16-1943 in Abilene, TX. Walter died in France and was presented with the Purple Heart Medal for bravery. He was a Master Serbeant with the 357th Infantry 90th Division durng the War.
