John Mattingly, 50 years of age, and a farmer of McQuady, died at his home there Monday, July 5 [1926]. Mr. Mattingly was ill with measles and complications developed which caused his demise. He was a native of Breckinridge County, and is survived by his widow, who was Miss Mays, also a son, Paul Mattingly, who lived with his parents and a daughter, Mrs. Charles Beavin of near McQuady. The funeral was held in St. Mary's of the Woods Catholic Church, Tuesday morning with the pastor Rev. Leo Landoll saying the requiem Mass. Interment was held in the old cemetery of St Mary's of the Woods Church.
