DUNCAN — Zenda A. Miller, 91 of Duncan, Okla. died Friday, August 6, 2010, at her home in Duncan.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 10th at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Phil Ware officiating. Interment will follow at Duncan Cemetery, under the direction of Don Grantham Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends Monday at the funeral home from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Zenda was born June 12, 1919, in Quay, Okla., the daughter of Monacie Cuthbert and Ida Bell (Rhodes) Alfred. She attended Oklahoma A & M. She married Bluford West Miller Jr. on May 17, 1938 at Stillwater, Okla. He preceded her in death.

Zenda and longtime friend, Ruby Eason co-founded Ruzen Flower Shop in Newton, Kansas in 1953. She retired after 27 years, but the establishment remains active today. She was also a rancher.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church, the UMW and Church Women United. She was a longtime supporter of Christians Concerned and of native American causes, especially the Indian Missionary Conference of the United Methodist Church.

She was a charter member of Entree Nous Club and Soroptomist Club of Newton, as well as a member of the Owl Club of Duncan. Zenda was an avid reader, loved politics and her grandchildren. She loved to travel. A trip to Egypt and Israel was the highlight of her life.

She had a natural "gift of gab" and a genuine love for her family and others.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Blu and Sandy Miller of Duncan and Monnie and Fran Miller of Perkins, Okla., two brothers-in-law and spouses, Robert L. and Jane Miller of Beggs, Okla. and David A. and Esther Miller of Okmulgee, Okla., seven grandchildren: Rich Miller and wife Niki of Owasso, Okla., Steve Miller and wife Jennifer of Austin, Texas, Nancy Ormand and husband Tim of Simpsonville, S.C., Stephanie I. Hara of Perkins, Jennifer J. Miller of Broken Arrow, Okla., Sara R. Reeves and husband Jack and Michael M. Miller and wife Angela, all of Perkins and 14 great grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents.

Pallbearers will be: Richard Miller, Michael Miller, Jack Reeves, John Brandell, Bill Kendrick and Steve Miller.

Honorary bearers are: Dale Anderson and Jim Williams.
