Cortland Standard - April 4, 1998 - Winifred A. Allen, 81, of 51 Port Watson St., Cortland, N.Y., died April 2, 1998 at Cortland Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Allen was born Sept. 15, 1916 in Syracuse, the daughter of Albert and Arlene Ryan Muncy. She attended school in Syracuse. In 1936, she married Robert Allen. She was a long time resident of Cortland. Mrs. Allen retired from Fisherman's Department Store in 1960, where she was a cafeteria manager. She is survived by two sons, Francis of Cortland, Thomas of California; one daughter, Barbara Batsford of Watertown; two brothers, Robert Muncy of Virginia and Donald Muncy of Sempronius; three sisters, Margorie Chistofferson of Cortland, Melba Conklin and Lorna Dancary, both of Syracuse; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Allen in 1971. Private services will be in Taylor Cemetery at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.
