His twin brother Private John Cairncross
also fell on the same day,and is also interred in this cemetery. He was also with the Gordon Highlanders,1st Bn. The London Scottish,formerly of The Black Watch (Royal Highlanders)Service No: 14620854.

They were the 19 year old twin sons of Hugh and Elizabeth Cairncross of Newburgh, Fife.
