Mary Dondlinger Weis, daughter of Dominic and Mary Dondlinger was born February 26, 1872, at Holy Cross, Wis. The family came to Fillmore County, Nebraska in an early day. Mary was united in marriage to Ferdinand Weis at St. Mary Catholic Church near Shickley September 18, 1893. They farmed in that vicinity until 1936, when they retired and moved to Geneva.Mr. and Mrs. Weis were the parents of five sons and four daughters, Carl Weis of Denver, Col., Andrew Weis of Humphrey, Anton Weis of Sacramento, Cal., Vincent Weis of Strang, Sylvester Weis of Beatrice, Mrs. Louise Bohnert of Beatrice, Mrs. Marie Lohmeier of Shickley and Cecelia Merrill of Geneva and Veronica Kamler, who passed away a number of years ago.Mr. Weis died in 1944 and since that time, Mrs. Weis had made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Merrill, in Geneva. Mrs. Weis was very active in St. Joseph Catholic Church since coming to Geneva. She was a kind and loving mother and grandmother.Mrs. Weis is also survived by one sister, Caroline Unterreiner of Perryville, Mo.; three brothers, Charles, Nick and Pet Dondlinger of Geneva; 17 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.The Rosary was recited at the Kritner-Farmer Funeral home at 8 p.m. Friday, March 2. Funeral services were held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Geneva at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 3, Rev. Paul Ulenberg officiating. Interment was in St. Joseph Cemetery. Pallbearers were Harry Dondlinger, Herbert Dondlinger, John Dondlinger, Robert Dondlinger, Lee Hansen and Jerry McLaughlin.The Nebraska Signal March 8, 1962 page 9.
