First Lieutenant, U.S. Army, 48th Tank Battalion, 14th Armored Division. Robert entered the service from Ohio. He was a tank commander and died as a result of wounds received from an attack on his tank and while rescuing other members of his tank crew. He was captured and died in a German hospital unit in the town of Barr, Haut-Rhin, Alsace. Awarded the Purple Heart posthumously.
