MRS. MINERVA BOOCO

Mrs. Minerva BOOCO passed away Sunday, September 16, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Harry CRAWFORD. She had been an invalid for six years and had been bed-fast for the two closing years of her life. Funeral services were conducted at the CRAWFORD home Tuesday afternoon attended by relatives and many old-time friends. Rev. B. H. Christner was in charge of the services. Pallbearers were friends of the family for years, Sam WILEY, Will McDOWELL, Harper FORGEY, J. C. WOOD, Dr. F A. McDANIEL and Algia BOWEN.

The mixed quartet included Mrs. Aime Rapin, Mrs. Claude Beverly, Dr. E. A Jackson and Clay Shaw. They sang “Abide With Me,” which had been the request of Mrs. BOOCO, and “Sweet Bye and Bye,” also her request in memory of her own mother.

The Eastern Stars formed an arch for the passing of the casket from the house to the hearse. At the cemetery the Eastern Star service was given at the grave. There were many beautiful floral tokens. A lovely set piece was presented by the court house officials and clerks. A. W. Heyer was funeral director.

Surviving Mrs. BOOCO are her daughter, Mrs. Irene CRAWFORD, her son-in-law Harry B. CRAWFORD, one grandchild, Robert Alfred CRAWFORD, a nephew, G. H. REAGER of Sidney, and a niece, Mrs. Valera JAAP of Perry, Missouri. There are also many cousins thruout Colorado, Missouri, California and other states.

Minerva Stevens BOOCO, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nathaniel S. STEVENS, was born January 1, 1880, in Ralls county, Missouri. There she grew to womanhood, receiving her education in Monroe City, Missouri. Her first trip to Colorado was to Yampa in 1892 to visit relatives. She came the second time and then met Alfred BOOCO. Two years later she returned and they were married.

Their first home was at Sidney on the ranch now occupied by Algia BOWEN. The place was then owned by Alfred and William BOOCO. After residing there three years, Mr. BOOCO bought the Bauder ranch in the same vicinity and they lived there for eight years, moving back to Sidney on the present Yale ranch. After selling that place the BOOCOs bought the Lyons ranch at Sidney and lived here until it was sold to G. H. REAGER several years ago.

After Mrs. BOOCO’s health began failing she and her husband went to Oak Creek and made their home with their daughter, Mrs. Harry CRAWFORD, and came with the CRAWFORDs to Steamboat when Mr. CRAWFORD was appointed deputy assessor. Mr. BOOCO passed away in Steamboat Springs June 3, 1934.
