Lt. Haskell Bland Navigator on B-24, Missing Over Reich

Lt. Haskell H. Bland, former Hughes County man, has been reported missing in actions since December 26 while on bombing mission over enemy occupied territory from his B-24 Liberator bomber base in Italy.

The son of Mrs. M. H. Bland of Porterville, Calif., formerly of Stuart, Lt. Bland is the brother of Mrs. W. W. Graham, 1123 S. Oak.

A navigator on a B-24, Lt. Bland has been overseas since late in September, 1944 and in a December 15 letter told his sister, Mrs. Graham, he had completed "one-fifth" of his missions.

Before going into service in May 1942, Lt. Bland attended school at Stuart, at Eastern state college, Wilburton, and East Central State College, Ada. Lt. Bland trained at Cleveland, Ohio, Mt. Home, Ida., San Antonio, Houston and Laredo, Tex. And received his wings and commissions at San Marcos, Tex., in July, 1944.

Another sister of Lt. Bland, Mrs. Clyde Peters, and her daughter, Wilma Jean, make their home in Porterville, Calif. Her husband, Pvt. Clyde Peters, is serving with the army overseas. "
