Peter Eugene Spaletta, son of Peter John and Minnie Spaletta, of Lemoore, California, was killed in action in March, 1944. He had served in the Mediterranean Theater and in North Africa as a Mustang fighter pilot. Spaletta, a second lieutenant, was buried in Naples, Italy. He was graduated from Lemoore Union High School in 1934 and from the University of California at Davis in 1937. From 1929 to 1933 he attended Saint Joseph Seminary. He entered the Armed Forces in January, 1942. Spaletta received his commission July 28, 1943. He was awarded the Air Medal posthumously.
