John was a graduate of the University of Virginia at Charlottesville, Class of 1937. He served in the 2nd Surgical Group and died when the Germans bombed the Hospital ship St. David at Anzio Harbor on Jan. 24, 1944. Entered the service from California. Lived in Hallock, Minnesota at the beginning of the war and is listed on the Kittson County Veterans Memorial in Lake Bronson, MN.
