He was lost on September 28, 1944, near Groesbeek, Netherlands, and his remains were accounted for on April 19, 2012. Gerald's military medals include The Bronze Star and The Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster. Gerald will be buried on May 19, 2012, in West Klickitat District 01 Cemetery in the state of Washington.
