Louis served as a Staff Sergeant & Gunner on B-24H "Heavenly Hideaway" #42-50449, 753rd Bomber Squadron, 458th Bomber Group, Heavy, U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II.

He resided in Erie County, New York prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on March 31, 1943 in Buffalo, New York. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed in the building of aircraft and also as Single, without dependents.

B-24H #42-50449, while returning from a bombing mission over the Gera and Reichenbach Marshalling Yards in Germany, collided with B-24H 41-29596 for an unknown reason. Both ships went down about 10 miles north of the Horsham St. Faith Airbase, England. "15" of the "18" airmen on board the B-24's perished.

Louis was "Killed In Action" in this collision during the war.

He was awarded the Air Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters and the Purple Heart.
