Kenneth Ernest Blair was born in Upton, Wyoming in 1924 to Axel John Simonson and Dorothy (Bartholomew) Simonsson. Kenneth eventually moved to California where his mother later married Fred Blair. Kenneth attended schools in Taft, California and enlisted in the United States Army Air Force in Fresno, California on 22 Jan 1943. Kenneth's enlistment documents indicate he had one year of college and was not married. His height was 68 inches tall and he weighed 130 pounds at time of induction. Kenneth was initially assigned to Keesler Field, MS, probably for basic training and then went to Pierre Army Air Base, SD where he trained as a weather observer and possibly a forecaster. Kenneth was then sent to Seymour Johnson Field, NC in Dec 1943 for preparation and training for overseas deployment. Kenneth left the states in Dec 1943 and was sent to England where he was assigned to the 18th Weather Squadron. Kenneth's serial number was 39692721.
