Oveson was a Staff Sergeant in the 116th Regiment, 29th Infantry Division, during World War II. First reported missing, Staff Sergeant Ralph Oveson was actually killed in action on that date, October 18, 1944, and he was subsequently confirmed dead.
During the war, Oveson was awarded the Good Conduct Medal and the Purple Heart. He now rests at Plot A, Row 8, Grave 12, at the Henri-Chapelle American Cemetery in Europe. Ralph L. Oveson was a great solider who dedicated his life along with his fallen comrades to protect our country. We owe our lives to these brave men who laid down their lives to promote democracy.
