Casualty of the Great War,Victor died of injuries from a plane crash. He was serving with 12th Squadron, Royal Flying Corps. He was 18 and the son of Florence Edith Bowling, of "Magellan", Birchington, Kent and of the late Alfred Bowling (Master, Mercantile Marine) who was also casualty of the Great War.He died,aged 54 on the S.S. "Enosis"-he went down with his ship-the only fatality of the incident.On November 18th 1915, Enosis was on a voyage from Barry to Malta with a cargo of coal when sunk by the German submarine U-33 (Konrad Gansser) 150 miles ESE of Malta.

Father and son are commemorated on the Birchington War Memorial.
