A STRANGE FATALITY. Cappie Iola, the third child of Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Abel, who live on North Troy Street, died Tuesday evening, from a strange and unaccountable acccident. The child was a little over eight years old. She was playing "tag" in the back yard, with her little brother and sisters and other children, when she stumbled and fell on an ash heap. With a scream she arose and ran toward the house. Her mother heard her and ran out, but the little dear with the cry "Oh mamma," fell in a faint from loss of blood. This was her last utterance. Drs. Hamer and Morganroth were summoned, but found it impossible to do anything for the child, owing to the great loss of blood that occured before they could reach the scene, and she died at about 3:00 o'clock Wednesday morning.
The doctors found a gash about three quarters of an inch long, on the inside of the thigh, that had severed the large artery. How the cut was made is a mystery. There was nothing found in the ash pile or near it to make such a wound.
The child was a bright little one, beloved at home and school, and her tragic death has left a deep burden of sorrow.
The interment occured at Harrod cemetery at 2:30 o'clock, Wednesday afternoon. Cappie was born in Bellefontaine, Feb. 6, 1893.

Obit taken from the Bellefontaine Republican, Friday June 7th 1901.
