He was born 4 miles from Seneca, MO on 23 Nov, 1857, the son of Frederick and Elizabeth Patton. Frederick was a native of Virginia and married Elizabeth there. He moved to Tennessee, and in the 50's came to Newton Co., where he died in 1904.

W. P. Albert, proprietor of a dry goods store at Seneca, Newton County, Missouri, established the said store in August 1884, at its present location The building is 24 x 60 feet in ground area, and the stock is composed of dry goods, boots and shoes, clothing, its. Mr. Albert was born a point about four miles from Seneca, in Newton County, November 23, 1957, and is the son of Fredrick and Elizabeth (Patton) Albert. The father was a native of Virginia, where he was reared, and where he married Miss Patton. Soon after his marriage he removed to Tennessee, and from there to near Libertyville, St. Francois Co., MO, and thence, two years later , to Fredericktown. Sometime in the fifties he came to Newton County, and there died shortly afterward. His widow is a resident of Newton County. Their son, W. P., received his education in the schools of Seneca and Racine, was reared to farm life, and in 1872 began clerking for his brother, J. T. Albert. In 1879 he started for himself in general mercantile business, but in 1884, the building was destroyed by fire. In the same year he erected his present place and again engaged in business in August. Mr. Albert was married September 7, 1879, to Mrs. Wilhelmina Holm, nee Pranter, Widow of Carl Holm. Her parents, who were of German descent, came to this country from Vienna, Austria, locating in Newton County, Mo., in 1870, but afterward removing to Springfield, where they now reside. Mr. and Mrs. Albert are the parents of the following named children: Ethelind N., Erick O. and Gerald. Mrs. Albert is the mother of one child, Caslie, by her first husband. Mr. Albert is a member of the I.O.O.F. and passed all the chairs in Seneca Lodge NO. 255. He is a Democrat.
