"PFC. DEXTER GRAMMAR (Sic), JR. PAYS SUPREME SACRIFICE
News was received last week officially by Mrs. D. T. Grammer, Jr., of Pleasanton, that her husband was killed in action near Luxenburg (sic), January 8. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. D. T. Grammer, Sr. living near Christine.
Young Grammer had lived most of his life in Atascosa County. He was 25 years, eleven months and four days old when he paid the supreme sacrifice. His family received a letter a few days ago dated the day he was killed, and he attended church services the same morning.
Survivors are his widow and two small children, Milton Lewis and James Leroy of Pleasanton; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. D. T. Grammer, Sr., and four sisters and two brothers."
