Thomas Foster Young was crushed by a falling tree, and was carried to his house on a plank. He died three days later. His father-in-law, John M.D. Marsh had donated land in the City of Alexandria for a burying ground. Thomas, along with two young children (John Allen and Lucinda Arey) were probably buried here.
