Antonia came from a long line of Spanish nobility. Her grandfather and great-grandfather founded San Diego, Texas with a Spanish land grant they received in the 1790s. She married Captain Jack Ross Everett in Mier, Mexico at age 15. She was known as "Antonita" as a young girl or "Mama Antonia" later in life. She moved with Jack across the Rio Grande to Texas to begin her new life. She was widowed at age 33 and moved to San Diego to be with family as she raised her eight children on her own. Jack's body was never found when he died. Antonia is buried with one of her children and two grandchildren. Jack's name is on the tombstone.
