"Del" Agler had just moved his men into the village of Le Besace, France on Nov 5th 1918. Upon entering the village he was met by locals who advised that the Germans (who had lived/occupied the village for 3 years) had told in their retreat that they would not shell the village, but would shell anyone moving beyond it. Del was spotted on the road just beyond (while scouting for positions to place his guns for the night) and was killed by a direct artillery strike.

Interestingly, his young widow noted that she had had a strong premonition he had been killed the day of (this recorded in a college book in 1919).
