Alfred MECHLING, 65, of near Tippecanoe, committed suicide Monday morning by shooting himself, it was learned here late in the afternoon.

Argos IN:

Alfred MECHLING,72, a widowed, well-to-do and respected citizen living just over the line in Tippecanoe twp, made his home with his son-in-law, Willis A SILL and family.

Mr MECHLING left a note asking his relatives to forgive his act, saying his burden was too heavy to bear longer, that he would be better with the Lord.

He owned several farms, having lived in Fulton and Marshall counties IN.

Son Jacob MECHLING, Administer of Alfred's estate, sold at auction, a Ford Sedan, farm implements and tools, clover seed, 14 ton new & old hay, bushels of corn, rye, oats.

Born 10 Sep 1846 in Perry Co OH, s/o of Jacob D & Nancy (WAGGONER) MECHLING, Alfred came to Indiana with his parents at about age 5 years, the family settling in Newcastle twp,
Fulton Co IN.

Predeceased by his wife Nancy (HENDERSON)in 1877, and son Elmer E in Apr 1918. Survivors included his two living children, Jacob Lawrence and Nellie Ellen SILLS and their families.
