Charles Henry Dixon, 87, of Midland, passed away Tuesday, August 3, 2010. Charles was born May 25, 1923 in Amarillo, Texas to Charles Sr. and Jannette Dixon.

Growing up in the great depression, his family relocated several times. He spent some of his youth in San Antonio, Ft. Worth, Monroe, Louisiana and Muskogee, Oklahoma where he graduated from high school in 1940. He enlisted in the Army Air Corp in December 1942 and was assigned to the 884th depot supply squadron in Naples, Italy for 18 months and received an honorable discharge. In 1949 he moved to Midland and went to work for Unocal until retiring in 1985. Charles loved music and watching old movies, but his greatest joy came from working with the local community theatre from 1950 until 1982, he took part in over 50 plays.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles H. Dixon Sr., and his mother Jannette Dixon; brother, Walter B. (Dickie) Dixon Sr.; sister, Ellen Bailey Dixon; nephew Walker B. (Dickie) Dixon Jr.

He is survived by his two great nephews, Dr. Bryan Dixon and wife Sarah, of Portland, Oregon and Scott Dixon of Houston, Texas; friend and caretaker, Tam Brasuell of Midland; and a host of other family and friends.

Graveside services will be held 10:00 A.M. at Resthaven Memorial Park with Reverend Bob Porterfield officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Funeral Homes.
