Mrs. Laura Gayton Dies at Her Home in Golden
Golden. June 1. — Mrs. Laura Gayton, ' Colorado pioneer and one of the best known residents of Golden, died at her home in this city following an illness of several weeks. Mrs. Gayton was 78 years of age and bad lived in Golden for 53 years. She was born in Brighton, la., in 1844. She was married at that place in 1862 to William W. Gayton, and in 1869 she and her husband crossed the plains to Colorado and settled at Golden. Mr. Gayton died here several years ago. Mrs. Gayton was a member of Calvary Episcopal church and took a' prominent part in religious and charitable work in Golden. During the war she was a leader in Red Cross work here. Funeral services will be held in Golden tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock and will be conducted by Bishop Irving P. Johnson of the Episcopal diocese of Colorado.
