Obituary, Boonville Daily News, May 4 to May 11, 2010:

Betty Ann Smith, age 71, of Boonville, passed away May 2, 2010 at her daughter's home in Mexico, Missouri.

Betty Ann Browning was born May 25, 1938 in Callaway County, Missouri to the late Nearis and Zula Hook Browning. She married Daniel Smith on May 22, 1993 and he preceded her in death July 11, 2001.

Mrs. Smith was owner of Newsom Brothers Roofing Company in northern Virginia for many years and was also owner and operator of Katy Rail Bar and Grille in New Franklin for several years. She was a member of the Eagle's Auxiliary.

Survivors include three sons, Robert Newsom, Jr. (Jan) of Virginia, Jerry Newsom (Chris) of Virginia, Douglas Newsom of Milan, MO; four daughters, Diane Wilson (Robert) of Fulton, MO, Betty Kelly of Jackson, TN, Roberta Hoffman (Robert) of Mexico, MO and Lisa Love (Dave) of House Springs, MO; four brothers, Nearis Browning, Jr. (Ruth), Delbert Browning (Sandra), John Browning (Sherry), Ralph Browning (Becky); three sisters, Mary Brewer, Daisy Warmbrodt (Frank), and Martha Redden; and a sister-in-law, Lynn Browning . Also surviving are grandchildren, April, Terri, Jamie, John, Travis, Robert, Michael, Shannon, Erica, Joshua, Robert, Felicia, Taylor, Melvin, Gavin, Carsten, Braiden and Grant and seventeen great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Melissa; a brother, Jim Browning; a sister Lula Brownley and husband Leon; and two brothers-in-law, Gene Brewer and Donnie Redden.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 8, 2010 at Markland-Yager Funeral Home in New Franklin. Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in New Franklin. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Heart Association in care of Markland-Yager Funeral Home, P.O. Box 126, New Franklin, MO 65274.
