Monroe "Munse" was the son of John Erik and Christine Hyllengren Turnquist and was born and raised in Duluth. He worked in Chicago until retirement. He returned to Duluth after retirement, living in his childhood home. He never married but enjoyed visits with sisters, nieces and nephews. His siblings were: Inez, Irene, Myrtle, Mildred and Lillian.
