Russell M. Long, 74, of Russell, died Feb. 25, 1996 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, due to an aneurism. He was born Dec. 30, 1921 in Russell, Iowa, to Mack G. and Nora Jane "Jennie" (Parr) Long. He married Mildred L. Cook in Princeton, Missouri, on March 14, 1942. He was a World War II veteran, a member of First Baptist Church of Russell, and of the Russell Sportsmans Club. He is survived by his wife; three daughters: Judi Huseman, Sandy Brown, Connie Cochran, and son, Steve Long. Also two sisters: Theo Woods and Nina Morrison; 10 grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.
The service was held at Fielding Funeral Home in Chariton; burial was in the Russell Cemetery.
Russ loved to hunt and fish and be outdoors. He enjoyed retirement and spending time with his kids & grandkids and also nephew Raymond. Russ was a good gardener and freely shared the garden produce with others. He was a kind and loving man, always ready to share his faith. He is lovingly remembered by his family and friends. We know we'll see him again someday...
