She was married at Sharon, April 20, 1879 to Lyman E. Totten, a veteran of the Civil war and a widower with several children. Into this family she came as a real mother, This fine interest she maintained to the last, her death occurring in the home of one of her foster sons. Mr. Totten passed away April 24, 1890,
On the death of her husband Mrs. Totten came to Delavan. In 1892 she became a member of the Congregational church, coming by letter, though she had been an active member of a Christian church since girlhood. In her life in Delavan, though meeting hard conditions she maintained her ideals and her interest in all good things. She was active in W.C.T.U. circles. Her husband and also her father having served in the Civil war, she found a fine place of usefulness in the local W.R.C.
Mrs. Totten leaves three foster sons Jay, Lewis and Parkes Totten and two nieces and one nephew. An only son died in infancy.
Thus has come to life's close a fine Christian soul, strong in mental equipment but warm and eager in her service for everything that is good and true. The funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Congregational church with many neighbors and friends to do her honor. Burial took place in the family lot at the Allen Grove cemetery
