Funeral services for Richard Dale Carver, 83, of Sellersburg, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, at Garr Funeral Home, Sellersburg, with burial in Rest Haven Cemetery in Louisville. He died Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2010, at Veteran Affairs Medical Center in Louisville.
He retired as a printer and compositor for the Courier Journal, and served his country in the U.S. Army Air Force. He was a founding member of the Calvary Christian Church as well as a board member.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Carver; three sons, Richard D. Carver III, of Sellersburg, Ron Carver and his wife, Sandy, of Sellersburg and David Carver and his wife, Patty, of Elgin, Ill.; three sisters, Jean Baumgart, of Lanesville, Joyce Philpot, of Corydon and Vivian Walthers and her husband, Paul, of Owensville; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Jimmy Carver; and two sisters, June Smith and Peggy Marshall.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
