He retired as a printer and compositor for the Courier Journal, and served his country in the U.S. Army Air Force. He was a founding member of the Calvary Christian Church as well as a board member.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Carver; three sons, Richard D. Carver III, of Sellersburg, Ron Carver and his wife, Sandy, of Sellersburg and David Carver and his wife, Patty, of Elgin, Ill.; three sisters, Jean Baumgart, of Lanesville, Joyce Philpot, of Corydon and Vivian Walthers and her husband, Paul, of Owensville; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Jimmy Carver; and two sisters, June Smith and Peggy Marshall.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
