Geraldine A. "Jerry" Woods, age 77, a native of King City, California passed away in Madera, California on Sunday, July 25, 2010. Private family services were held with Entombment in the Arbor Vitae Mausoleum on the grounds of Arbor Vitae Cemetery in Madera, California, located at 1301 Roberts Avenue, on Thursday, July 29, 2010 at 1:00 pm. David Rocha gave the eulogy. Geraldine was born third child to Homer W. Mason of Eastland County, Texas and Alice Hedrick, of Dunlap, California. They settled in Monterey County, but soon divorced, however, and her father of earliest childhood memory was her mother's second husband, Clarence Eblen of Missouri, who cared for her and also for her siblings Donald H. and Beverly Mason. Whenever Jerry referred to her "Dad" it was Clarence that she meant. Alice died in care at Fresno in 1976, while Clarence died in Madera in 1988. A homemaker, "Jerry" has been a resident of Madera, California for 44 years. She was a resident of the Meadows residential community in Madera for many years. Geraldine loved to travel but she enjoyed her role as a mother and grandmother. "Jerry" was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Bobby Lee Woods, on June 6, 2001. Bobby was born in Oklahoma City. She is survived by her children, Joe Rose and his wife Sue of Porterville, California; Ric Woods of Madera, Ca; Candis Woods and her husband Kent of Willows, Ca; and Barbara Whitted and her husband Larry of Madera. She is the sister-in-law of Mary Mason of Fairbanks, Alaska, and the beloved grandmother of 14 grandchildren and 12 great grand children. Also surviving "Jerry" are numerous nephews and nieces.
