Central, UT - Our loving Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Sister and Friend returned home to her Heavenly Father on August 3, 2010 surrounded by her family. LaPrele T. Banks was born January 5, 1923 in Enterprise, Utah to George Huntsman and Laura Sophia Staheli Tait. She was the third child in a family of nine children, two being deceased early in life. She grew up living in Enterprise most of her growing up years until she met and married Richard Burton Banks, September 11, 1940 in Santa Clara, Utah. This marriage was later solemnized in the St. George LDS Temple December 19, 1941. Mom and Dad lived in Cedar City, Minersville, Marysvale and Caliente before finally settling in Milford where they lived for over fifty years. She was a homemaker, beautician and restaurant owner/manager and #1 malt maker. She was a very faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints having served in many capacities. She served as Relief Society President and Councilor, Spiritual Living Teacher, Ward and Stake Primary, YWMIA, a visiting teacher for over forty years, and in the Extraction Program. She has always had a fervent testimony of the Gospel and loved Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ dearly. Mom and Dad moved to Central, Utah in January of 1994, where they enjoyed their garden, keeping the yard beautiful and watching deer and wild turkeys walk through their yard. When Dad got sick, Mom was there with him constantly until he passed away January 3, 2001. Mom's greatest joy was her family. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She loved them all very much and they loved her. LePrele is survived by her son, Richard Douglas (Susan) Banks of Cedar City; daughter, Julia Rae (Gerald) Alger of Cedar City; daughter, Delores (Bill) Wilbur of Central; son, Glen (Gina) Banks of Enoch; sister, Barbara Murray of Spanish Fork; brother, Ferrol Tait of Enoch. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Verda Spendlove of St. George and Shannon (Dean) Caldwell of LeVerkin. She has 17 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and 1 great-grandson-in-law. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Richard; two grandchildren; parents; brothers: George Glendon Tait, Melvin Tait and Aaron Tait; sisters: Ada Nesbitt, Mary Banks and LuWen Tait. As one of the nurses said, you have given new meaning to the words, "endure to the end"! We love you Mom and we'll miss you "‘till we meet again"! Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 7, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Veyo LDS Ward Chapel, 176 East Center Street, Veyo, Utah. Visitations will be held Friday, August 6th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 W. St. George Blvd. and on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Chapel, prior to services.
