Funeral rites Friday for Mrs. Derrick

Funeral services for Mrs. Lulu Belle Derrick, 82, of Ridgewood Rd., Milan, who died Monday, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the Larson Funeral Home, Milan. The Rev. Frederick A. Skov, St. Mathew Lutheran Church, Milan, will officiate, and burial will be in Chippiannock Cemetery, Rock Island. Friends may call after noon Thursday at the funeral home.
The former Lulu Belle Trego was born Aug. 25, 1893, in the Sherrard area, the daughter of Thomas "Corwin" and Lucinda Jane "Jennie" Parker Trego. She lived near Sherrard for 26 years and then moved to the Milan area. She received her education in Sherrard and attended the former Western Illinois State Teacher's College in Macomb.
She was married to J. Lester Derrick, Jan. 14, 1920 at her parents home farm near Sherrard. He died April 17, 1971.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Dorrance (Dorothy) Vaughn, Garden Grove, Calif., Mrs. Brantley (Darlene) Pitts, Coal Valley, and Mrs. Lawrence (Mary) Steele, Milan; two sons, John L. Derrick, Illinois City, and Clifford E. Derrick, Milan: 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two grandchildren, two sisters and a brother.
