According to her death certificate, the informant being her daughter, Josephine, Louise's parents were Marie and August Bohl. Born in Germany, she immigrated to the U.S. On December 21,1870. The passenger list states she was traveling with August Bohl, age 17, and Wilhe Bohl, age 23, presumably her siblings.

Louise married Bernhard Ackerman, 10 years her junior, on August 11, 1881. Together they had 4 children, Waltes (1881-1887), Waldo (1883-1888), Josephine (1884-1960) and Katherine (1886-1953). Bernhard died in 1896, leaving Louise to raise her 2 young daughters alone.

At the time of her death, Louise was living at 29172 East Jefferson Avenue in St. Clair Shores, Michigan. She died of "apoplexy" (a stroke) at age 77.
